Each designated city will have a local WSC Project Management TeamUnlike individual projects and events, where the local WSC Project Management Team has complete autonomy to implement the projects and events as deemed necessary, the WSC Framing Events are partnership events that are developed, organised, and implemented in close collaboration between the World Smart Capital Initiative and the local WSC Project Management Team.
Candidate definedA Candidate will likely consist of the City – with or without suburbs, metropolitan area, satellite cities - the Venue(s), the Region, the National Government and other relevant organisations.
Bidding procedureThe normal application procedure will be a combination of many criteria and factors that contribute to the final selection of a city that has the eligibility, financial commitment and capacity to execute high-quality programs and events. The selection procedure will not have an open financial bidding round, but will comprise of an application fee (₤15,000) an administration fee (₤25,000) (short-listed cities) and a licensing fee (₤150,000) for the winning city.
The first open annual (2014) competition will be launched in June 2012 with a call for applications, open to all cities interested in becoming the next World Smart Capital.
Bid ProcessBased on a Bid Manual answers will be invited to a series of questions which will enable the World Smart Capital Initiative to nominate a number of candidate cities, then compile a short list of Candidates for further consideration and ultimately award the winning Candidate the title of World Smart Capital for a calendar year.

Trademarks
The logo and the words ‘World Smart Capital’ are trademarks of the World Smart Capital Initiative (‘Marks’). The Candidate will be given a license for use of the Marks in all promotional and advertising material for the duration of the relevant calendar year. This license includes sub-licensing rights, so that the Candidate can sub-license the Marks locally in order to give start-ups or established companies alike the possibility to communicate their pride in being part of the World Smart Capital concept.
Each designated city can offer unique sponsorships to partners, especially when the World Smart Capital concept and the nature of the partners’ business are tightly linked and compatible. Through sponsorship, corporate partners will enhance their know-how, execute project content, and collaborate with each other.
